Our beloved mother, Rita Eileen Williams, passed away last night at about 11:30. She was surrounded by her chidren and in the compassionate care of the Spokane Hospice House staff.
May she rest in peace.
Arrangements are being made for a rosary and funeral mass to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston, WA and for a celebration of Rita's life to be held at her home in Asotin, WA. The dates and times of these events have not yet been finalized, but we are hoping to be able to schedule them for a Saturday sometime in the near future to accommodate out-of-town family.

This place is the Cyprian's for she has ever the fancy
To be looking out across the bright sea,
Therefore the sailors are cheered, and the waves
Keep small with reverence, beholding her image.

Thank you for sharing her life with us.

We spent 3 wonderful days with Auntie Rita last July.
Andy picked her gigantic zucchini.
Cindy taught her how to play bocce ball.
Rita enjoyed Carrie, Ed, and Andy's singing.
Rita manuevered us into Cosco using her card and then wouldn't let us pay her back.
We laughed and created memories.
We are so fortunate.
Thank you.
Niece Cindy
I am not family, only a friend of Charmaine's. I met Rita just once, and then very briefly.
After reading the entries in this wonderful blog, I feel envy for the beautiful relationship that is so clearly exhibited in each entry, from each family member. Obviously, this Rita person was a woman of great strength, possesing warm and loving devotion to her children, and a true friend as well. She led a fulfilling life, right up to the end.
I read the passionate entries and feel both envy and fear as I approach my own mother's inevitable death. My family is not so open about their feelings, not as easily moved to professions of affection. I wonder how we will react to our mother's passing on....
I can just barely imagine the intensity of the last few weeks for you. Thank you for sharing this wonderful person - your mother - with us. I will certainly remember her with fondness, as viewed through the hearts of her children.
